AMD launches first laptop processor with 3D V-Cache technology

US-based chipmaker AMD has expanded its Ryzen chipset lineup for laptops with a new processor, the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D. The latest chipset is the first mobile processor that comes equipped with AMD’s 3D V-Cache Technology. AMD has confirmed that the first device to feature the new processor will be the Asus ROG Scar 17 gaming laptop. The company also claims that the chipset is designed to deliver better performance and offers the industry’s first integration of 3D V-Cache technology for mobile.

This technology promises to minimize lag, maximize responsiveness and offer users an improved gaming experience.

Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D will be the first gaming laptop to feature the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D chipset. This gaming laptop is set to debut on August 22.

AMD’s latest mobile chipset is based on the “Zen 4” architecture, which supports lock speeds up to 5.4 GHz. The processor also has a 55W TDP package and is engineered to deliver the improved performance needed to handle the latest most demanding titles. AMD’s V-Cache technology also promises to deliver better performance and responsiveness that will offer an immersive gaming experience on laptops. 

This is the first mobile processor with a stacked L3 cache which claims to deliver 144 MB of on-chip memory paired with faster cores to create the world’s fastest mobile gaming processor. The chipset has 16 CPU cores and 32 threads. For connectivity, the chipset has the PCIe 5.0 version and includes 2 channels for DDR5 memory. For graphics, the processor is paired with the AMD Radeon 610M model. The chipset has 2 graphics cores that support a frequency of 2200 MHz.
